Choosing A Project Management Software

Project Management Software : - I believe that before Project Management Software takes off organizations need to embrace project management as a core business process. Too often companies, who are looking for a silver bullet, jump to a software tool to fix their problems. While PM software adds value by making the experienced project manager and team more efficient it does not replace the ad-hoc processes for project selection, prioritization and resource allocation that are prevalent throughout the corporate landscape.

Time may finally be here for project management software to really take off. I have not connected with many entrepreneurs in this space would enjoy trading industry notes with operators or others who follow it. I define project management software as scheduling, resource allocation, reporting, tracking to metrics like budget and delivery, calendering, and prioritizing. Part of the historical problems is that most projects run over budget and are delivered late. So, project management software does not get enough love or worse gets associated with the failures and a bad rap for what is usually a people problem.

The other problem is the Project Management Software vendor does not get many end users or develop much "same customer" growth. One, projects take forever and can consume a company. This means one project granted it can be subprojected and tasked can last years. While the Project Management Software is used frequently, it is typically by the same lot of people which represents a small percent of the workforce.

Project or value based pricing sounds like a really bad idea in this scenario and that is why you dont see it offered from Project Management Software vendors. Same customer growth has also been limited by organizational constraints;
1) knowledge worker is a new concept ,
2) collaboration really has not existed and
3) vertical promotion has been the versus a new trend of lateral development.

Project management software packages come in all shapes and sizes and are designed to help you take control of your projects. Different projects and different companies will require different software, depending on the size and complexity of the tasks you are managing so it’s important to choose your package carefully.

$$$ Project Management Software $$$

Project Management Software
Project Manage software will also not help the ‘accidental’ project manager phenomenon that I have mentioned numerous times in articles I have written. The process of project management needs to be embraced as an integrated model at the strategic, developmental and tactical levels of an organization. Once those processes within those levels are in place organizations can turn to software to make those processes more efficient.

What might be changing things in Project Management Software?
1) Basically, the mass adoption of lightweight Project Management Software and collaboration software is going to be great microtesting for companies and upsell opportunities for larger Project Management Software vendors.

2)Project management efficiency comes from having people work on topics they are passionate about, providing them opportunities to build stronger relationships with more of their coworkers, and arming them with corporate training.

3) Art of Project Management Software is stronger than before, because the project is owned by more than just one champion in the corporate environment.

4) Outsourcing and Decentralization of the workforce creates stronger need for process of Project Management.

5) Employer retention problems creates stronger need for documentation of projects so the replacement hire can plug right in Project Management Software.

6) Project Management Software is leading to technology deployments with more profound services where implementation services costs = business process enginerring (which needs Project Management Software versus service costs = coding.

This eliminates what call the people do not buy into project management because they know it is just the flavor of the day until the next manager comes along with a new idea. Now the project is bigger than the champion which means the committment will get all the blame, not theProject Management Software.
